The Funeral Service for Mr. Dwight Hundrey Harrison, Jr. of Americus, Georgia will be conducted Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church, Americus, Georgia with Elder Shelby Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery.

Dwight Hundrey Harrison, Jr., fondly known as “D.J.” was the youngest son to his loving parents, Valerie Westbrook-Porter and Dwight Hundrey Harrison, Sr. He made his grand entrance into this world on October 24, 2000 in Sumter County, Georgia and immediately stole the hearts of his family with his adorable dimples. He was educated in the Americus, Sumter County, Georgia, Public School System. Dwight’s secondary Education included Georgia Youth Military Academy in Augusta, Georgia. He later enrolled in the GED Program at South Georgia Technical College, Americus, Georgia with plans to enroll in the Commercial Driver’s License Program.

 At an early age Dwight began attending church including Love of Christ Outreach Ministry, Victory Worship Center, and Oasis World Outreach Center, Americus, Georgia. Dwight was always willing tohelp his family and friends. He loved life and he enjoyed making people laugh.

 He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mr. Alphonso Westbrook; and paternal grandfather, Mr. Ben Johnson. In addition to his parents, Dwight Hundrey Harrison, Sr., Attapulgus, Georgia and Valerie Westbrook-Porter, Americus, Georgia, he leaves to cherish his loving memories, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Berta Lembrick Westbrook-Winns, Americus, Georgia and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Doris Harrison Suldon, Attapulgus, Georgia; one sister: Jasmine Merritt, Americus, Georgia, and one brother, Eric Hawkins, Jr., Fort Smith, Arkansas; two nephews: Jamar Merritt and Kameron Paschal, Americus, Georgia; step-father, Mr. Eric Porter; six uncles: Andre Westbrook, Americus, Georgia; Lorenzo (Alexia) Walters, Lawrenceville, Georgia; Willie Harrison, Cairo, Georgia, Timothy Harrison, Havana, Florida, Henry Harrison, Tallahassee, Florida, and Curtis Harrison, Whigham, Georgia; six aunts: Angela Westbrook-Foster, Americus, Georgia, Gwen (Elder Shelby) Hall, Americus, Georgia, Corene Westbrook-Milledge, Americus, Georgia, Doris (John) Perry, Attapulgus, Georgia; Diane (Henry) Campbell, Attapulgus, Georgia; and Priscilla (Tony) Smith, Leesburg, Georgia; godbrother: Sedrick Clemons, Atlanta, Georgia; godmothers: Natasha Foster, Montgomery, Alabama and Laketa Watts McClaster, Putney, Georgia; a devoted friend, Derrick Wafford, a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends survive.

Mr. Horace Cottle of Americus, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by West’s Mortuary.

Mr. Horace Cottle was born in Ellaville, GA on Dec. 26, 1945 to the late Merol Merritt and the late John Myrick. Horace was the owner of Cottle Contracting. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Keyarri N. Ruch, one brother, Mr. Melvin Cottle and a sister, Mrs Doris Cottle King

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. JaMeia S. Cottle Ruch (Rahsaan Ruch, son in law) and Ms. Tanaisha L. Thornton Clark; two brothers: Mr Ollie R. Cottle, Mr Kenneth Myrick; four grandchildren: A'Shariya S. Ruch, Rahsaan D. Ruch Jr, Deona N. Clark and Cedric D. Clark Jr,; several other relatives and friends also survive.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Essie James Williams of Montezuma, Georgia will be conducted Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Churches Road, Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor Lee W. Hall officiating.

Essie James Williams departed this life on Monday, November 10, 2018 at the Lillian Carter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Plains, Georgia. Essie, affectionately known as “Sonny, Smiley and Bono”, was born on January 21, 1943 in Dooling, Georgia to the late Doris Dawson Williams and the late Jimmie Williams. He was a graduate of Macon County Training School and was a dedicated employee of Montezuma Motor Company for fifteen years as an auto detailer. In later years, he went to work at Macon State Farmer’s Market as a seasonal laborer. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Essie was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Fobbs. He leaves cherished memories with his siblings: Marvin Williams (Kathleen) of Irvington, New Jersey, Morris Williams of Montezuma, Georgia and Patricia Paremore (Greg) of Newark, New Jersey; nieces and nephew: Patricia Davis (Ray Jones) of Montezuma, Georgia, Samuel Fobbs, Jr. (Kimberly) of Macon, Georgia and Sharonda Ladd (Robert) of Bonaire, Georgia; great nieces and nephews: Victoria Brown (Michael) of Fort Valley, Georgia, Jessica Jones (Justin) of Perry, Georgia, Sgt. Delmar Davis III of Smyrna, Georgia, De’Marrion Fobbs, Devin Griffin and Lindsey Ladd all of Bonaire, Georgia; one great great nephew, Justin James, Jr. of Perry, Georgia; two great great nieces: Jordyn Jones of Perry, Georgia and Ashanti Brown of Bonaire, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends including devoted friends: Bobby Lee Davis (Mary) and Bertha Lee Fobbs both of Montezuma, Georgia.

Dawn Shanice “Nicey” Hobdy, age 49, of Americus Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. A Memorial Service will be held for Dawn at a later date and will be announced by West’s Mortuary.

Dawn Shanice Hobdy was born on October 4, 1969 in Jacksonville, Florida to Ruby Merritt and the late Bernard Jordan. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Jordan and a son, Brian Christopher Hobdy.

 Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by her mother, Ruby (Johnny) Merritt of Americus, Georgia; her daughters: Angela Denae’ Jordan and Brittany Shambreka Hobdy of Americus, Georgia; sons: Devin Bernard (Jasmine) Hobdy of Jacksonville, Florida and Kevin Lamar (Aja) Hobdy of San Diego, California; grandchildren: Cassidy Leah Hobdy and Kaleigh Marie Hobdy of San Diego, California, Hailey Fierra Wilson of Americus, Georgia, Kevin Lamar Hobdy, Jr. and Kameron Michael Hobdy of San Diego, California and Devin Bernard Hobdy, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; her sisters: Donna Marie Hobdy of Jacksonville, Florida, Pamela Harvey and Kimberly Merritt of Americus, Georgia; grandparents: Robert and Ruby Hobdy of Jacksonville, Florida; aunts: Robin Martin, Janice Harmon and LaRose Tunsil of Jacksonville, Florida; uncle, Bernard Hobdy of Jacksonville, Florida; a host of great uncles, great aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ryan Terrell Harris the infant son of Shaunya Harris and Reginald Oliver was born on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. On Thursday December 20, 2018 the Lord decided to remove all of his pain and take him home with Him. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas Harris.

Ryan is survived by his parents: Shaunya Harris and Reginald Oliver Jr.; brothers and sisters: Riley Harris, Raikwan Oliver, Ka’Maya Oliver, Dearon Oliver, Ariel Oliver, and Juwan Hubbard; grandparents: Wandrea Harris, Cornelia Oliver and Reginald Oliver, Sr.;  great grandmother: Charlie Mae Hill; aunts and uncles: Garrick Rhyme, Destinee Hill, Kenyonia (Jabarri) Fish and Terrell Oliver; devoted aunt and uncle, Cedric and Tiffanie Mathis; a host of cousins and other relatives also survive.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Charles Richard Phillips of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 207 Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia.

Mr. Charles Richard Phillips was born on May 5, 1935 to the late Charles Richard Phillips, Sr. and Carrie Louise Hicks Williams in Montezuma, Georgia. He grew up in Montezuma and attended the public schools of the county. He later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and furthered his education. In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully. In 1980 he was employed by the Cincinnati, Ohio Police Department and Cincinnati Metro Transit System. After retiring, Charles moved back to Montezuma, Georgia and was employed by Southwest Georgia Transportation Co. in Americus, Georgia.

Mr. Phillips departed this earthly life on December 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Mentlow and Jimmy Phillips.

Charles leaves cherished memories with his devoted wife, Dollie B. Phillips of Montezuma, Georgia; two brothers: Richard (Shonda) Phillips of Montezuma, Georgia and Michael (Jolie) Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio; three daughters: Carole (Maurice) Jarman, Cheryl (Andrew) Rodgers and Charlotte (Jullian) Robinson of Cincinnati, Ohio; one step-daughter, Shonta Brown of Montezuma, Georgia; one son, Charleston (Tameka) Brown of Warner Robins, Georgia; one step-son, Morreo (Keysha) Greene of Warner Robins, Georgia; devoted brother-in-law, Emmitt (Nora) Brown of Butler, Georgia; brother-in-law, Darnell Brown; sisters-in-law: Margaret (Travis) Skinner and Lorine Brown of Montezuma, Georgia; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great grands, four great great-grands, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Ceola Griffin of Oglethorpe, Georgia will be held at noon, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia.

Ceola Griffin, affectionately known as “Pee Wee”, was born on August 18, 1946 in Jeffersonville, Georgia to the late George Powell and Nellie Ford Powell. She grew up in Oglethorpe, Georgia and graduated from D. F. Douglass High School. She was a quiet person with a kind heart and a gentle and loving spirit.

Ceola Powell Griffin passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Eugene Powell, George Powell, Jr., Toby Powell, John Lee Powell, Sr., Bessie Mae Wiggins, Eveline Hall Hudson, and Mary Frances Clark.

Her beautiful memory will forever be cherished by her husband, Abraham Griffin of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service for Ms. Pamela Ward McKenzie of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 207 Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor Joe R. Hairston officiating. 

Pamela Renee Ward-McKenzie was born in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia on September 24, 1961 to the late George Junior Ward and Mary Alice Lewis Ward. Pamala obtained her education through the public school system of Macon County and was a 1979 graduate of Macon County High School.

Following high school, Pamela enlisted in the United States Navy and served her country proudly until she was honorably discharged. On January 5, 2019, Pamela McKenzie departed her earthly life for an eternal life. She was preceded in death by her three sisters Jackie G. Ward, Linda F. Lewis, and Cheryl A. Ward.

She leaves to cherish her memories her four beloved sons: Paul (Felecia) McKenzie, Jr., Preston (Ebony) McKenzie, Printin McKenzie, and Paris McKenzie; eight grandchildren; five siblings: George A. Ward of College Park, Georgia, Kenneth Ward of  Stockbridge, Georgia, Gail Ward of Charleston, South Carolina, Bryan Ward of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Kathy Mann (Alfonso) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunts and uncle: Peggy Ann Gibson of Atlanta, Georgia, Annie Grace Benton of Atlanta Georgia, Elnora Long of Triangle, Virginia, Angela Roberts of Warner Robins, Georgia and Cornell Lewis of  Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Milton Kleckley, Sr. was born on May 4, 1964 in Leslie, Georgia to Jessie Mae Kleckley. He was employed at Tape Specialist of Americus, Georgia and Nestle Purina in New York. He passed away on January 1, 2019 in Dunkirk, New York.The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 12:00 at the New Life Holiness Church in Americus, GA. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Tara Bess Kleckley; children: Christopher Waters, Keeuntae Kleckley, Demarcus Bess, Justin Bess, Alexis Bess, Erica Bess, Milton Kleckley, Jr., Quantavious Bess and Tiara Bess; brothers and sisters: Johnny Jordan, Sylvester Jordan, Lee Kleckley, Doris Smith, Doreatha Kleckley and Carolyn Kleckley; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
